ECAir airlifts 63 doctors from Cuba to Republic of Congo



In its first flight operations between Cuba and Republic of Congo, Equatorial Congo Airlines, the national carrier of the Republic of Congo organized a charter flight airlifting 63 doctors on a special mission from Havana (Cuba) to Ollombo (Republic of Congo).

According to a statement from the airline, “ 63 Cuban doctors arrived in the Republic of Congo, aboard the Mont Nabemba, the Boeing 767 of the national airline of the Congo. This is the first charter flights between Cuba and the Republic of Congo, operated by aircraft with Equatorial Congo Airlines.”

ECAir further said, “Jacqueline Lydia Mikolo, Minister of Health and Population, attended the Ollombo international airport to welcome the passengers of Equatorial Congo Airlines Boeing 767. The 63 doctors will work at the specialized hospital in the city of Oyo. Equatorial Congo Airlines, partner of the Ministry of Health and Population of the Republic of Congo and reiterates its contribution to sub-regional development initiatives, participating in the improvement of health services in the Republic of Congo”.


The national airline of the Republic of the Congo, ECAir (Equatorial Congo Airlines) was created in 2011 and employs over 700 people. Since 2011, the airline has transported over a million and half passengers. ECAir operates up to 136 weekly flights from Brazzaville (Republic of the Congo) to Paris CDG, Dubai,  Cotonou, Douala, Libreville, Bamako, Dakar, Pointe-Noire and Ollombo. Equatorial Congo Airlines, which has a fleet of 7 aircraft, (1 B767, 2 B757, 4 B737), has also created a river shuttle for passengers travelling from or to Kinshasa (Democratic Republic of the Congo) and a shuttle bus between Paris CDG and Brussels. ECAir is the first Congolese airline to connect the continent directly to the Middle East, with flights to Dubai and Beirut and to Europe with flights to Paris.
