GULFSTREAM NAMES NIGERIA’S SKYJET AVIATION AS SALES REP IN CENTRAL AFRICA

Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. has expanded its sales capabilities by naming SkyJet Aviation Services Ltd. as a commercial sales representative in central Africa. Gulfstream through a press statement said SkyJet’s territory includes Ivory Coast, Ghana, Nigeria, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Zanzibar.

“Business aviation is growing in this part of Africa, especially in Nigeria, and shows no signs of slowing down,” said Scott Neal, senior vice president, Worldwide Sales and Marketing, Gulfstream. “SkyJet is a company with a strong and positive name in the aviation sector and will be an invaluable resource as the need for business jets continues to increase.”

SkyJet is a private charter airline and aircraft maintenance provider and was incorporated in 2006. SkyJet’s owner and chief executive officer, Alhaji Kashim Bukar Shettima, and director of aircraft sales, Bruce Fullerton, will work closely with Gulfstream’s Pete Buresh, regional vice president, Africa, and Trevor Esling, regional senior vice president, International Sales. 

The company is headquartered in Kaduna, a city in central northern Nigeria, and has additional offices in Lagos and Abuja.

SAHCOL handles Emirates Airlines in Abuja

The Skyway Aviation Handling Company Limited, SAHCOL has been picked as the preferred Ground Handler for the Emirates Airlines Abuja Operations.

 SAHCOL shall be providing total Ground Handling Services to Emirates Airlines' daily flight operations from/to Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE).

By this contract, SAHCOL shall be supplying Ground Handling Services to all Emirates Airlines' Operations (Passenger, Ramp and Cargo) in/out bound Abuja, Nigeria.

FAAN TO REPAIR ABUJA AIRPORT RUNWAY FOR 29 HOURS

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN will temporarily close the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja for 29 hours for rehabilitation of the runway. The runway will be closed from 11p.m. of July 5th and reopened for operations by 5a.m. of July 7th, 2014.  According to a statement signed by Mr. Yakubu Dati, the General Manager Corporate Communications of the agency, “The Management of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria wishes to inform the public, especially aviation stakeholders and intending passengers that the runway of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja will be closed to traffic for maintenance from Saturday, July 5 to Monday, July 7, 2014. A NOTAM (Notice to all airmen) of closure at 2300 UTC on Saturday, 5th of July, 2014 and reopening at 0500 UTC on Monday 7th of July, 2014, has already been issued at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Internatioal Airport, Abuja, notifying all airlines, sister agencies and critical stakeholders. According to the statement, “This facility upgrade, which is in line with ICAO requirements and NCAA approved safety and Standard and Recommended Practices (SARPs), will further elevate safety and security to greater heights. FAAN hereby apologizes for the inconvenience this temporary closure will cause air passengers and airline operators.”
